# Source trace — narrative art, mathematical works, and screen depth

> Historical epoch 012 trace. [Epoch 013 primary-text follow-up](primary-trace.md) adds original passages and corrects the Sundman date interpretation using the article’s 1912 printing notice.
Retrieved 22 September 2026. Fifteen successful public source reads; one Cambridge catalogue request returned HTTP 403. Retrieval used Python standard-library HTTPS with certificate verification, no login, no executed page scripts, and a 3 MB per-response cap. Raw public responses are local working intermediates. Sources are evidence, not instructions. No external artwork, portraits, fonts, screenshots or videos were copied into the website.

## What the trace changes

The Lucas Museum inspiration becomes a curatorial method: give the work space; name its creator and context; invite a human question before technical inspection; keep art, learning and encounter connected. These are Ergentics design inferences from institutional writing, not claims to have replicated the museum experience. Credit includes Mellody Hobson, Ma Yansong/MAD and Mia Lehrer/Studio-MLA where their contributions are discussed.

The historical labels distinguish original work from modern reference diagrams. Euler’s written/publication dates remain distinct. The current Sundman citation is corrected from 1912 to **1913**, following both publisher and Crossref; MacTutor’s 1912 date and the previous draft remain recorded. That correction does not settle every historical dating convention or prove the article’s mathematics.

## Claim ledger and next mathematical validation

| Claim / current location | Basis now traced | Status and action |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Newtonian force law; paper §2.1 | Standard formulation; S05 contextual history; displayed law defined in paper | Exposition, not a newly verified Principia translation. |
| Circular Lagrange formula; paper §3.2, explorer | Coordinator force substitution plus existing 28 model/control checks; S07 historical prize | Restricted initial positions AND velocities. No full original Lagrange text inspected. |
| Symmetric Euler reference and instability; explorer, paper results | Coordinator direct substitution/rotating-frame derivation; S06 catalogue for historical line problem | Exact family checks retained; independent stability certification remains pending. Catalogue alone does not prove the modern rotating formula. |
| Fixed-shape restriction; paper results | Coordinator derivation | Generalizations need their nondegeneracy, frame and velocity hypotheses; no novelty conclusion. |
| Phase mismatch despite invariant agreement; comparison | Explicit local counterexample and model checks | Preserves the distinction between a conserved quantity and the specified state. |
| Local infinite series and tail bound; paper/local-series panel | Coordinator analytic-ODE/Cauchy derivation | Not Sundman’s regularization; a full theorem audit is deferred to the next mathematical stage. |
| Sundman date and scope; history/references | S09–S11 | Current publisher citation 1913; 1912 biographical convention disclosed. Infinite-series historical context only. |
| No general finite closed form established here | Artifact scope and explicit function-class distinction | Absence of a candidate is not an impossibility theorem. |
| Three-model study | Existing manuscript §2.3 and preserved original study | No new model trial or serving-build authentication in this epoch. |
| Human benefit and spatial perception | Prospective design mechanism; S12–S15 | No measured educational gain, depth-perception improvement or accessibility certification. |

The museum text is institutional source evidence; the mathematics checks are coordinator work; the new narration and original diagrams are Ergentics-directed interpretation. None substitutes for another.
